Letter from Victor A. McKusick to Louis K. Diamond (March 11, 1981)

Several months ago, I wrote you requesting your assistance in my preparation of a talk I'm to give to the Perinatology
Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics. It is in conjunction with their annual Virginia Apgar Award. Among her many
activities was the sponsoring of the summer course in genetics, which you ran so efficiently beginning in 1960. I participated
in that for a couple of years and found it most interesting and stimulating. I should like to know how the course started,
what role Virginia played in setting it up, and what you think may have been its impact on clinical genetics. If you have
any stories relating to the course and anecdotes about Virginia, I'd appreciate them.
