Dear Joe,
I am enclosing a copy of a reply I received from Time magazine which is self-explanatory.
I am also enclosing a news story which you probably have already seen on Lewontin's talk. John Fuller was rather distressed by the tone of the article. Lewontin's lecture, it should have been obvious, was intended as good-humored insider's criticism and really not for public consumption. I think the story represents an abuse of the privilege extended to the press in permitting them to attend.
Best regards.
Sincerely,
Victor A. McKusick, M.D.
