Gentlemen:
I am aware of the unfortunate plight of Dr. Vladimir Raiz, a molecular biologist who, I gather, applied for permission to emigrate to Israel in 1973. He and his family appear to be having a very hard time in terms of making a living and raising the children under very difficult circumstances. It does seem very unlikely that Dr. Raiz possesses any State secrets of significance after all these many years, and it would be a great kindness if you could help him make the necessary arrangements for emigration. I realize that you must receive many letters like this, but this particular case seemed an unusually sad and critical one, and I do hope something can be done to help Dr. Raiz and his family.
Sincerely yours,
Christian B. Anfinsen
