Letter from Christian B. Anfinsen to Ioan Aurel Nicolau
Description:
Anfinsen responded to an inquiry from Nicolau with this brief letter to the Romanian lawyer. It is likely that the enclosed publication that covered Anfinsen's work in protein chemistry was his 1984 presentation at a symposium on biochemistry at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook.

Dear Mr. Nicolau:
Thank you for your letter of May 19.
My choice of profession was due principally to the fact that although my father wanted me to go into engineering, I decided that I preferred chemistry, and proceeded in college and graduate school to specialize in this area of science. I enclose a publication which covers a good deal of the work that was carried out over the years. It does not, of course, include everything, but it will give you some idea of the kind of efforts that we put forth in connection with the Nobel Prize that I won in 1972.
Sincerely yours,
Dr. Christian B. Anfinsen
