How Antibodies and Enzymes Work
January 14, 1941.
I have your letter of January 2nd and the proposal concerning the program for research in immunology. I am planning to come
to Pasadena soon, probably arriving there on Monday, February 10th. According to present plans I shall be going to Palomar
on Wednesday, the 12th. I also have a variety of other things to take care of, but I trust that you will be there during
that period so that we may have a leisurely chance to discuss your proposal. It seems to me a very interesting and important
suggestion, but I must confess that my present hunch is that it is distinctly over-venturous (from our point of view) to set
up so large and so long a program until further exploratory work has been done. I also have a distinct curiosity as to the
possible relation of this program to the interests in immunology which have previously been presented to us by Professor Sturtevant
and for which we have made a small grant-in-aid.
