The computerized image-processing system developed to analyze Sokoloff's [14C] deoxyglucose autoradiographs was an important
breakthrough, making it possible to make highly detailed, spatially precise, quantitatively correct metabolic maps that demonstrate
actual rates of glucose utilization in the brain tissues.
