Dear Josh:
Needless to say I was sorry to read the information contained in your last letter. I must, however, confess that it did not come as too much of a surprise since I just returned from the east where I spent a day in Tatum's laboratory. They had already told me about the sad collapse of the Boivin story, and also their complete inability to get any reply or other cutlures from him.
Frankly, I do not understand the whole business. I shall, however, as you suggest, try writing him directly and see what I turn up. If I am more successful, than my predecessors, I shall, of course, be happy to send the cultures around.
The latest reasonably well confirmed rumour is that John is going to Tufts Medical College in Boston. There are no reasonably well confirmed rumours with respect to myself. Will let you know when some good ones come up. I do not know when or if I am going to Minneapolis.
With best regards,
Sincerely yours,
S. Spiegelman
