Letter from Salvador E. Luria to the editor of The New York Times
Several months after the first NASA lunar landing, Luria wrote the editor to dispute the scientific value and expense of the
"man-on-the-moon program" and plans for missions to Mars at a time when government funding for medical research was
being cut. This letter appeared in the newspaper on 26 September 1969.
