Address Presented to the Fellows of the Jewish Hospital, Washington University Medical Center, St. Louis, Missouri
In this speech, Koop discussed the direction of biomedical research in private, academic, and government facilities, as well
as the application of research findings to the development of medical therapies; demographic change and the prospective aging
of the American population; and changes in health policy that would likely be produced both by this demographic change and
by the rise in health consciousness among the Baby Boom generation.
