Note to Dr. Foege and Dr. Hayes
Attached is a letter from Mrs. Diane Schweber, whose husband Dr. Saul J. Schweber is said to have received the first of three innoculations of Heptavax B vaccine and now suffers from Guillian-Barre syndrome; also attached is my acknowledgment of her letter.
I would appreciate your looking into this matter as appropriate for your agency, and let me know if this is becoming a problem or is an isolated event because I want to provide Mrs. Schweber a more definite response in the near future.
Thank you.
C. Everett Koop, M.D.
Surgeon General
