"International Cooperation in Public Health Matters"
Question and Answer Session
By
C. Everett Koop, MD, ScD
Surgeon General Of the U.S. Public Health Service
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
Before the international audience Pulled together by the United States Information Agency Foreign Press Center
Washington, D.C.
February 19, 1988
The last time I spoke about AIDS before this appearance was the same morning speaking before a congressional committee. This particular presentation is different than any other in this archive because it was a brief statement by me about two major public health issues that are global problems -- smoking and AIDS. After presenting them in very short order I took questions from an international audience.
These occasions were fun for me and I felt that their informality and the fact that one could have repartee with public health colleagues in other lands was one of the most important ways we had of communicating health issues outside the rather formal confines of the World's Health Assembly of the World's Health Organization.
Because of the Q&A format I will not attempt to summarize this presentation nor will there be an index.
