Dear Professor Lingane,
Thank you for the formal offer of a visiting professorship in your letter of 20th March. My employers, the Medical Research Council, have agreed to give me leave of absence, and I have much pleasure in accepting it on the terms stated.
As to the topics of the lectures, I have discussed the matter with Professor Doty, who advises me that rather than cover merely structure, I should give a course roughly corresponding to my range of interests. This is the structure, synthesis and function of the more important biological macromolecules, in particular the proteins and the nucleic acid, and would include their relation to genetics.
I enclose the biographical form which I have filled in.
With best wishes,
Yours sincerely,
F.H.C. Crick
