Dear Professor Shockley
This is in reply to your letter of 18 February.
Although, as you know, I am interested in all these problems, I must stick to my decision not to get involved with topics of this sort for the next few years. I am in the process of changing my scientific interest, and I find there is a limit to the number of things I can concentrate on at any one time.
