KW: relates to BBAPKQ, Carl Shy => JL 6/13/75; manifesto on world problems; In response to my email 9/99, Prof. Clinton (now at Oregon State University) responded: " we did not hear from Professor Tatum before his death on 5 November 1975. In all, we heard from only 30 Laureates, which did not seem a high enough proportion to warrant publication of the book. We did, however, place several of the pieces offered to us in periodical publications. "In light of the mainstream media's resounding neglect of the Scientists' Warning to Humanity in November of 1992, signed I believe by some 1600 of the world's greatest scientists, it is intriguing to speculate on what the reaction might have been to our early, and unfortunately aborted, effort." jl 9/5/99 9/29/99
