Throughout the early 1930s, Heidelberger continued to work to determine whether antibodies were modified globulin proteins, for which he needed a way to isolate pure antibody. To this end, Heidelberger hired a physiologist named Torsten Teorell to experiment with differing types and quantities of salts added to the precipitin reaction in the hopes that it would help isolate pure antibody. This article detailed the team's findings.
