Description:
The Methodist Hospital invited the Duchess to a Muscular Dystrophy Association/ALS clinic, and to their surprise, she accepted. DeBakey is standing on the far left. Larry Mathis, the Methodist CEO is standing next to DeBakey (in the back.) Standing in front of both (and next to the Duchess) is Dr. Stanley Apell, a prominent doctor in the study and treatment of muscular dystrophy and ALS, a MDA award-winner, and then Chair of the Department of Neurology at the Baylor College of Medicine. (He is now the Peggy and Gary Edwards Distinguished Endowed Chair for the Treatment and Research of ALS and Senior Member of the Methodist Hospital Research Institute.). Sarah Ferguson has supported many foundations including: African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust, American Cancer Society, Andre Agassi Foundation for Education, Children in Crisis, Elephant Family, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Mothers4Children, Not On Our Watch, Ronald McDonald House Charities.
