Standing, in white, is Dr. W. T. Fitzsimmons, who in 1917 became the first American killed by the enemy in the American Expeditionary Force. Edgar Lorrington Gilcreest, standing at the far right, wrote a reminiscence of Osler's time at the hospital that was published in a special memorial number of the Bulletin of the International Association of Medical Museums..
