Taken at Osler's Oxford home, 13 Norham Gardens. Bierring was an American physician and professor of medicine. At the time this photo taken, Bierring was part of an American commission to study medical education and qualifying methods in Great Britain and France. La Garde was a retired colonel of the Medical Corps of the United States Army who was called back into active duty during the First World War. This was the last photograph ever taken of Osler, who died five months later on December 29, 1919.. [Description courtesy of McGill University.]
