- Three publications resulted from the 1984 Surgeon General's Workshop on Breastfeeding and Human Lactation: the 'Report of the Surgeon General's Workshop on Breastfeeding and Human Lactation' (1984); the 'Followup Report: Surgeon General's Workshop on Breastfeeding and Human Lactation' (1985); and the 'Second Followup Report: The Surgeon General's Workshop on Breastfeeding and Human Lactation (1991).' At the 1984 workshop, four successful models to promote breastfeeding were presented. The purpose of this Followup Report (1985) was to recognize other useful approaches and identify where they were being implemented.
