In this letter to the editor of the "New York Times," Luria commented on a recent story in that newspaper on a growing sense among dissenters of government intimidation under President Nixon. Luria noted that many in the scientific community feared that their participation in activities opposing government policies could result in retaliatory measures--such as the loss of research funding--by the Nixon administration.
