Institut Pasteur (Paris, France) and Lwoff, Andre, 1902-
Date:
27 November 1957
Description:
The concept of viruses and awareness of the essential differences between viruses and bacteria developed slowly over the 1940s and 1950s. In 1957, Lwoff summarized the characteristics of viruses in an article in the "Journal of General Microbiology" (17:239-53). In this letter, Luria discussed the evolving terminology of viral genetics, and asked Lwoff to review two of his forthcoming articles.
