- Title:
- Letter from Thomas H. Jukes to Francis Crick
- Creator:
- Jukes, Thomas H. (Thomas Hughes), 1906-1999
- Recipient:
- Crick, Francis, 1916-2004
- Date:
- 12 January 1982
- Description:
- In his letter Jukes recorded his favorable reception of Crick's book, Life Itself: Its Origin and Nature (1981), in which Crick speculated that life on earth might have evolved from microscopic organisms seeded here deliberately by an alien civilization. More than offering a far-fetched hypothesis, Crick's book was a meditation on scientific method and on the convergence of scientific disciplines needed to explain such difficult problems as the origins of life on earth.
