Albert is wearing his medal of valor, earned for his service as a medic during World War I. Shortly afterwards he carefully shot himself in the arm, was sent back to Budapest on a hospital train, and finished his last year of medical school.. NOTE: The original photograph is damaged over the right side Albert's face.
