In this study, Freis's group found no significant differences in the overall effectiveness between antihypertensive treatments with prazosin (an alpha-blocker that reduces the nerve impulses that constricts blood vessels) and hydralazine (a vasodilator that acts directly on blood vessels to relax them) in patients also receiving the diuretic hydrochlorothiazide.
