Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harrison, George
Date:
18 February 1959
Description:
In this memo to Harrison, Luria outlined his conditions for accepting a position at MIT. Among other things, Luria specifically requested an expansion of laboratory space, the provision of air-conditioned labs for the department, additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as to be named chair of the department's Committee on Microbiology, which would direct the department's graduate program.. NOTE: The upper right-hand corner of page one contains handwritten text in pencil that was too light to adequately capture in black and white. The text reads, "Memorandum from Sizer to Dean Harrison Monday. Specific proposal to carry out and time table Monday before budget meeting."
