Having met only six months earlier, Delbruck and Luria spent the summer of 1941 at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, where they conducted their first experiments to determine how bacteriophage multiply within bacteria. Here, they relaxed with Luria's colleague at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Frank Exner, during the CSHL Symposium of 1941.
