DeBakey giving a presentation to the Indonesian Heart Foundation in Jakarta, March 1981. DeBakey visited Jakarta again at the end of August 1981, with a surgical team, to perform a series of 20 heart surgeries at the Gatot Subroto Central Army Hospital. This was part of a long-term plan to set up a cardiac care program in Indonesia.
