Dear Marshall:
Many thanks indeed for taking the time and effort to come to Birmingham as a member of the Visiting Committee to the University of Alabama School of Medicine, UAB. I know how valuable time becomes, particularly if you have personal interests that you would like to pursue, and particularly as we grow older and the time available ahead becomes less and less. Your presence, however, added a substantial measure of dignity and stature to the group, and I very much appreciate your having been here.
Apologies for burdening you with so many books on your departure, but I love them, and I hope you will find them interesting too.
Many thanks again for the trip.
Best regards,
James A. Pittman, Jr., M.D., Dean
