- These typewritten notes and discussion were prepared by McCarty and Avery for a presentation given by Avery to current (and several former) colleagues at the Rockefeller Institute during the weekly staff meeting held on 10 December 1943. McCarty later reported that the presentation was met with a long silence, then acclaim by those in attendance. The handwritten notes on the outline and discussion text are Avery's.
